Meet the Spanish Teacher
Hola! I'm Mrs. Perez and, yes, I am Puerto Rican! I am excited to be teaching Spanish to grades 3rd-8th this school year. I would like to tell you a little bit about myself. I was born and raised in the state of Indiana until the age of twelve. My family then moved to the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. I lived in Puerto Rico from age twelve through my first year of college. We then moved back to Indiana where I completed my bachelors degree in Spanish teaching. That same year, I married my Mexican college sweetheart. We now have two beautiful “MexiRican” children. On our free time, my family and I love to cook different types of food, travel and enjoy family outings.
As far as teaching experience, I taught several years in a private school in Indiana. Recently we have moved to Georgia and have been enjoying the beautiful weather, and delicious southern food.
I have been blessed with bilingual parents who have taught my siblings and I both English and Spanish since we were very young children. Throughout my life I have also seen many friends and relatives learn to speak, read and write both of these languages at an early age. My personal belief is that school aged children are at a perfect age where they can learn another language if given the opportunity.
